Supper at a friend’s: slow cooked spareribs, salad, mashed potatoes, portuguese grilled chicken, cheese (I forgot what it was but it wasn’t brie or camembert), baguette. Dessert: pastel de nata (portuguese egg tart), cookies and crêpe-cake. (Dec 30, 2012)
Dec 25, 2011: Christmas supper with my mom’s family at my grandma’s
Tom Yum hot pot (prepared by my cousin), a cousin’s gỏi (salad, in squared dish), some leftover gỏi from the evening before, bánh bèo, my mom’s gỏi cuốn (vietnamese spring roll), chả giò (imperial rolls/fried spring rolls) and I (with my sister’s assistance) made another large tray of crab, shrimp and peppers with grated cheese on baguette hors d’oeuvres.
Dessert: vanilla sponge “cheesecake” topped with slices of strawberries by yours truly.
Dec 24, 2011: Christmas supper with my dad’s family at our house
Lobsters (brought from New-Brunswick by my uncle and cooked by my dad), an uncle’s gỏi (salad), bánh cuốn and bánh bèofrom ‘caterer(s)’, my mom’s gỏi cuốn (vietnamese spring roll) and my mom and I (with some help from my sister) made a large tray of crab, shrimp and peppers with grated cheese on baguette hors d’oeuvres.
 I forgot the dessert - my bûche de Noël: vanilla sponge cake with cream cheese and whipped cream filling topped with cherries and strawberries.
